As I am learning to make watch straps and I have more than one watch I thought it might be good to make a box for them.
I am also planning to make a watch roll but that is for another day.
Whilst out shopping with my wife I found a pre made box for crafters.

As you can see it was not an expensive box but I am sure I can add a little bling to it.

After removing the lid hinges and fastener I gave it a little sanding I then cut some grey board to fit the shape. I wrapped the board in electric blue suede.

I worked my way through the box making linings and wrapping each one in suede.

My original plan was to cover the outside in leather but after thinking about it I decided to use wood veneer instead. In the above picture you can see the veneer laid out prior to gluing.

Sticking the veneer to the curved top was not as difficult as I first thought a hot iron helps.

The inside edges were also a little tricky it was also getting dark.

After applying all of the veneer I refitted the hinges (yes I made a template) I added magnets under the veneer so I did not need to refit the catch.

Here is the box after its first coat of Danish oil

After making the card inserts I cut two discs of suede and stitched a strip of suede in between them. I then stuffed the tube with toy stuffing. My first effort was too long it stopped the lid from closing so I cut one end off and made it smaller.

Watch in the box the lining just needs to be glued in place and felt applied to the base and it is finished.
Thanks for reading.
