A friend who has a family heirloom Rolex watch asked me if I could do anything with its box. It was in four or five pieces held together with an elastic band.

The lid had a piece of the plastic missing about 55mm long and 2 to 10 mm wide. The paper hinges inside and out were also torn through.

I carefully removed the wooden inner sections and then the green leather paper (I think that is what it is called).

I used epoxy to fix the replacement panel in place. Sorry that is a really bad picture.

I salvaged half of the paper from the inside to remake the paper hinge inside and the other piece to rejoin the rear paper hinge.

Then it was just a case of putting everything back together starting with the outside back panel.
