Watch strap

My wife asked me to make her a blue watch strap with pink stitching. I have tried to make a watch strap for myself but I was not too happy with it especially as it was too short.

I started by making a template from the old watch strap which gave me the shape and the position of the holes.

I left 15 mm on each end that had an attachment buckle or pin this was folded over and glued in place a thin piece of leather was used to provide a lining.

This is the thinnest pink thread I had which after consideration was just too thick.
After checking my thread box I found some 18/ 3 red linen thread which is thinner.

This is the finished strap with the red linen thread.
