Inspiration comes from many places in this case a sweet packet.
Rather than going to the trouble of making a wooden form I thought I could just mark and score some lines and fold the kydex.
Scoring the kydex did not work so I cut half way through which allowed the kydex to fold
I thought it may be possible to weld the cut seams together to regain some strength. although this worked it did not feel really strong. Hot glue may have worked but I thought it was better to make a form and hot form the kydex.
I marked out the shape on the ends of an oversized piece of dowel then using a ruler I marked lines down the sides to help me to plane and sand the edges.
Once I had the form I had to mould the kydex around it. This is quite easy with a round dowel but is a bit of a nightmare with a hexagonal form.
Eventually having used mini clamps and strips of wood I managed to get one that I am happy with.
The final step for this stage is to wrap the kydex tube in red suede.
It took some time to get the outer covers to an acceptable shape.
